DO WHAT YOU LOVE

Modern Day Soul

I feel like I’ve been sleeping hard on this one, but I’m pretty shocked in myself that I haven’t came across this soul mashing master Handbook at a sooner time. I guess better late than never right?

Some of the best soul & jazzy hip-hop instrumentals across the board. Brings you back to a more simpler time in music by copping up some brilliant samples from the golden age eras of music history. The week’s just started and some of us are still recovering from the aftermath of the weekend. So all in all, at least we have these vibes to comfort our ear drums.

Howlllllllllllll

Howl to zee moon!!! Thy weekend is here and we can finally say goodbye to the weekdays and let out our animal like behavior out in full force. Rightfully so here’s one of the newest tunes from Dimond Saints “Howler.”

An homage to that inner wolf that makes you want to scream to the moon and run wildly free into the nighttime forest. Hypnotic echoing howls backed up by some of the deepest of 808s that bass music has to offer. Wolf Pack worthy.

Kill Again and Again

Over here at thee ol’ Damn Son were huge fans of sir KR$CHN so it should already be expected that were gonna share one of his latest tunes.

“Kill Again,” is just one of those tracks that really has everything. Captivating late night tip intro that’s very reminiscent of some Trentemoller vibes, and hard hitting basslines that come in to make the whole earth quake. Even if I wasn’t already a fan of dude I’d still be rinsing this one heavily. Once again, KR$CHN has killed again. Musically speaking of course. ;)

Sloth Grindin’

I’ll admit it, Childish Gambino is kind of a guilty pleasure for me. So when I came cross this dreamy bootleg that sloth.toes did of his “grindin’ freestyle” I was instantly hooked.

Takes a very minimal approach with key elements he added that flow effortlessly with this heater of a freestyle. Heavy drums pounding in the background really give this tune an emotional feel to it. Stay dreamy and slowwww down folks.

Existence In Sound

I’m not even fully sure how Arian Cook popped into my soundcloud feed, but I’m not complaining here.

“Your Existence,” a track so spine tingling chilling; I just can’t stop listening to the damn thing. Atmospheric intro and pretty little vocal chops. Have a feeling Arian Cook is gonna be a big name in that future bass sound. Music that makes you feel good to be alive.

Thriftworks – Fader

If your thinking “Didn’t DAMN SON! just blog Thriftworks the other day?” thats because we did. Thrifty had just released a killer set of tunes under the name “Fade”.

Now he just casually dropped another 33 tracks under the umbrella “Fader”.

Thats right. 33 tracks.

33

And he has another release planned for the month. I guess Thrifty decided November was the time to drop all the bombs on our ear canals.

Rather than attempt to review or even pick out my favorites (Lets be honest they are all favorites) I would recommend listening to this collections of wonky-ness whilst working or performing a long arduous task.

Its a journey.

on a Tuesday

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you’ve probably heard ILOVEMAKONNEN’s “Tuesday.” This song is everywhereeeeee. It’s true, I know, but what I also know is few have heard Flexenbaum & Kimoweh‘s future bass remix of it. It’s an entirely new take on the all so catchy track we’ve all heard on the radio airwaves. Almost so different it’s practically unrecognizable. Probably why I like it so much, see for ya selves…Club goin’ up, on a Tuesday.

Revolution For The Fallen

I don’t usually post mainstream EDM tunes, but when I do I make sure it’s one hell of a remix. ANDRU went a little out of his comfort zone for this one, and I couldn’t be more enthralled. Do something out of your comfort zone and you never know what amazing results you’ll get.

Starts out with echoed vocals that you could imagine being shouted out towards the entire valley like the war chant from an uprising nation. Then drops into that chill trap sound that ANDRU is known so well for.  As the lyrics say, “Fallen people, listen up! It’s never too late to your change your luck.” That right there my friends is something we can all take to the bank. Bet.

Very few people realize that Idaho exports more than just potatoes, actually Boise has a thriving music scene and home to one of the coolest music festivals in existence, Treefort.

Also hailing from Boise is witchcraft producer Polomirror who falls on the indie side of electronica but teases elements of downtempo, dance, and even a bit of hip hop.

Escape The Mundane Monday

We escaped last week’s weekdays so effortlessly only to be brought back to our knees to the dreaded Monday. It’s okay though darlings, ₪ jetson. has just the escape you need.

1/2 of Chill Children, this rising MC lays down an incredible solo track to remind us that when the going gets a little tough we all have that special escape plan. Be it writing music, getting lost in a painting, or even just lying around like Cheech & Chong in that super “towel” mode if you catch my drift. Bring back a little bit of your weekend with this tune ya weekend warriors.
